VISUAL NOTETAKING

Snapshots of my notes from various education books, as well as my reflections on my own personal experiences.

WHAT?

Visual note-taking is the process of integrating color and imagery alongside text in notes to engage both the visual and written brain. Using both linguistic and non-linguistic methods to record information helps to improve retention, recall and understanding, as well as engaging all types of learners.

HOW?

1. Text: organized, written content, with hierarchy and distinction. Includes important details.
2. Images: translating words into pictures, creatively representing the information and key concepts artistically.
3. Structure: organized flow and direction of information, helping identify relations between concepts.

WHY?

It’s fun, and helps build connections between new and existing knowledge, as well as providing quick review by glancing at the images. These notes include important details from the reading, and then the reflection journal section synthesizes information from class and weekly activities in the reflections on the reading.
